Meet Brooke
"I feel very privileged to be in a position where I get to witness so much human resilience and growth."
Brooke knew from a young age that she wanted to help people in her career. She studied Psychology straight out of high school, and completed her Psychology degree with first class honours at a Brisbane University in 2007. She then continued on to complete her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and as part of this, completed research at the Royal Brisbane and Women's hospital, looking at specific factors which influence a person's psychological adjustment after stroke.
Across her career thus far, Brooke has experience working in both public and private hospital settings, as well as extensive private practice experience. She also has experience working in a multidisciplinary chronic pain unit in a private Brisbane hospital, and has continued work in the chronic pain field since this time. In 2011, Brooke entered into her first private practice role, and since then, hasn't looked back.
"I really enjoy being able to work closely with individuals. It allows me to take the time to really see them and hear their stories. I enjoy the challenge of bringing evidence-based therapies to each individual's story, and finding the best approach to help a person move towards wellness and a better quality of life. My approach balances supportive empathic counselling, with evidence-based practical strategies aimed at creating change in the areas that each client needs".
Brooke sees individual clients who are aged 16 years and over, and accepts most referrals. However, Brooke holds a specific interest in: Adjustment to chronic health conditions; management of chronic pain; Anxiety Disorders; Mood Disorders; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; Eating Disorders; Trauma; Complex Trauma; and Grief.
Brooke also provides supervision to other practicing psychologists working with the above-mentioned presentations, and has also presented on numerous occasions to psychologists and other health disciplines on a variety of mental health topics.
